What this notice covers
This notice explains how we handle the personal data you give us when you contact us about an enquiry, by email or phone using the details on this website, and the technical information the website receives when you visit it. It doesn't cover other websites, including any we link to. If you become a customer or supplier, we'll tell you separately about any further use of your information.
The information we collect
When you email or call us
- your name, company and contact details, such as your email address and phone number
- the details of your requirement, such as what you need and approximate quantities
- anything else you decide to include in your email, its attachments or the call
Please don't include classified or controlled information, or sensitive personal information about yourself or anyone else. A general description of your requirement is enough for a first conversation.
When you visit the website
Like any website, ours receives standard technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. Our hosting provider processes this to deliver the website and protect it from misuse. We don't use analytics or advertising tools, and the website doesn't set cookies. See our cookie policy.
How we use your information
We use the details you send us to:
- reply to your enquiry and discuss your requirement with you
- arrange a call or an on-site visit, if you ask for one
- prepare a quotation, if you ask for one
- keep a record of our correspondence with you
We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use enquiry details to send you marketing.
Our legal basis
UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for using your personal data. We rely on:
- Legitimate interests: responding to business enquiries, and keeping records of our dealings with business contacts. We only rely on this where our interests aren't outweighed by your rights and interests.
- Steps before a contract: where you ask us for a quotation or for information so you can decide whether to place an order with us.
- Legal obligation: where an enquiry leads to an order, and the law requires us to keep certain records, for example for tax and accounting.
International transfers
Our hosting provider, Vercel Inc., is based in the United States and may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we make sure the transfer is covered by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up. If your enquiry leads to an order, we keep the related records for as long as we need them for the contract and to meet our legal and accounting obligations. When we no longer need the information, we delete it.
Technical logs held by our hosting provider are kept for a limited period set by the provider.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct information that's wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to restrict how we use your information
- object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests
- ask for your information in a portable format, where that right applies
Some of these rights have conditions or exceptions. To make a request, email enquiry@asldefence.co.uk and tell us which right you'd like to use. We may need to confirm your identity first. We'll respond within one month, as the law requires.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal data, please tell us by emailing enquiry@asldefence.co.uk, and we'll try to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection. You can contact the ICO through its website at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by phone on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
We'll update this notice if the way we use personal data changes, for example if we add new features to the website. The current version will always be on this page.
